Tempe police are investigating after a bus driver fatally stabbed a passenger who refused to leave the bus at the final stop and began raising a glass bottle at the driver.
Police say the driver of the Valley Metro Orbit bus argued with 39-year-old Dennis Momotaro around 11:15 a.m. Tuesday when Momotaro wouldn't leave at the final stop by Victory Drive and Evergreen Road.
Police said the fight turned physical and Momotaro "raised a glass bottle over his head in a swinging stance" before the driver stabbed him with a knife.
Tempe police is working with the Maricopa County Attorney's Office to determine if the incident warrants criminal charges and is not currently identifying the bus driver. The department said not to expect updates within the near future.
