REASSURANCE: Temporary Chief Superintendent Rob O'Connor
A POLICE boss has issued reassurance to the public after a serious assault in Barrow left a teenager hospitalised.
Temporary Chief Superintendent Rob O'Connor stressed the incident on Jarrow Street yesterday was an 'isolated' one.
He said enquiries had revealed the parties involved were believed to have known one another.
A 13-year-old boy who was airlifted to Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool has injuries described as 'not life-threatening'. He is in a 'stable' condition.
Police say the injuries are believed to have been caused by a knife.
A 13-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy arrested in connection with the incident have now been released on bail.
