The London police services board will debate this week whether to ask the province to give police chiefs the power to suspend officers without pay.
Javeed Sukhera, the board’s chair, will bring forward a motion at a board meeting Thursday to consider asking the province to give chiefs of police the power and the “discretion to suspend a member of the police service, without pay, who is charged with or convicted of a serious offence” and to “streamline the process for termination of a police officer who is found guilty of serious or criminal misconduct.”
