Police: Armed felon captured in New Haven after chase

MERIDEN — A gun, crack, cocaine and heroin were seized during an arrest Friday after a vehicle chase and a foot pursuit, according to police.
Officers with the Crimes Suppression Unit were conducting surveillance in the area of North and South avenues when they stopped a gray Volvo.
Law enforcement initiated the traffic stop of the driver, later identified as Gioseppe Destefano, on the Interstate 691 on-ramp on Lewis Avenue. Police said Destafano didn’t stop right away and got onto the highway.
