Plans: A new Lidl store in Warwick Road, Carlisle, could soon be approved next month
Plans to build a new Lidl supermarket store in the city are soon to be decided with council officers recommending it be approved next year.
The German grocer has expanded rapidly, with scores of new stores across the country in recent years, including several in Cumbria.
The retailer — which currently has one store at Madford Retail Park in Charlotte Street, Denton Holme, in Carlisle — unveiled multi-million pound proposals to create another branch on land adjacent to Botcherby Community Centre, beside Warwick Road, in October, 2019.
The plans include a 1,256sqm store including an in-store bakery and customer toilets, ample car parking spaces, and landscaping throughout the site.
