A UPS cargo plane went off the runway at the Alexandria Airport on Monday night, Dec. 28 and ended up in a plowed field.
Airport Manager Kreg Anderson described the incident as a “runway excursion.”
The pilot, Anderson said, lost control of the aircraft for an undetermined reason at about 7:30 p.m. The pilot, who was the sole occupant, wasn’t injured.
The plane was taken to a hangar at the airport and the incident is under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration. A preliminary report says the aircraft experienced a “nose gear collapse subsequent to a runway overrun during an aborted takeoff attempt.”
