Landowner Peel L&P has completed the purchase of the 350,000 sq ft retail and leisure complex, built as an extension of the Trafford Centre before its £1.6bn sale in 2011.
Barton Square was put on the market through Savills last year, with bids in excess of £50m invited. Peel, the original developer of both Barton Square and the larger retail centre, was reported to be under offer for the mall in March. The value of the deal remains undisclosed.
Mark Whittaker, Peel L&P’s director of property investment and management, said: “Peel L&P’s acquisition of Barton Square brings a truly unique and exciting retail and leisure destination to our portfolio.
