Pickerington man gets 13 years for Licking County home invasion
NEWARK, Ohio – A Pickerington man will spend 13 years in prison on multiple felony charges stemming from a home invasion in Licking County. Court records show 32-year-old Joseph Powell, Jr., of Pickerington pleaded guilty and was sentenced Wednesday for aggravated burglary, kidnapping, failure to comply and tampering with evidence.
The charges against Powell stemmed from a February home invasion in the Pataskala area. Powell and two co-defendants reportedly held a family of five at gunpoint while burglarizing the home. They then fled the scene and reportedly lead authorities on a high-speed chase reaching speeds of over 100 miles per hour before the vehicle was stopped using spike strips.
