PG's Gairns makes World Cup small final, Howden clinches Crystal Globe

Tiana Gairns of Prince George, right, stands next to Fanny Smith of Switzerland and Marielle Thompson of Whistler after finishing third in the World Cup ski cross semifinal Saturday in Bakuriani, Georgia. Gairns went on to finish the competition eight overall. Smith came from behind in the women's big final and captured gold to lock up the Crystal Globe points championship. Thompson ended up fourth overall and ranks second in the standings with two stops left in the World Cup circuit.

Tiana Gairns of Prince George finished ninth as the top Canadian Sunday's Audi FIS Ski Cross World Cup final race in Veysonnaz, Switzerland. The 22-year-old placed 12th in the season standings.
