PETERSBURG — The city tied an inauspicious record Friday afternoon with its 21st homicide of the year.
Petersburg Police said Sherman Xavier Miffin, 20, of Petersburg, died at Bon Secours Southside Regional Medical Center where he had been taken after he was found at the intersection of West Wythe and South streets with a life-threatening gunshot wound.
Police have not released any more details about the shooting.
Friday's murder tied the number of homicides in 2019.
