Sunderland extended their unbeaten run in Sky Bet League One to 12 games on Easter Monday, as Lee Johnson’s side were held to a 1-1 draw at Peterborough United.
The Lads started brightly and went close on two occasions in the first 45, but Posh stepped things up before the break and it remained level at the interval.
Siriki Dembele’s introduction fuelled the home side’s second-half surge and with 66 minutes on the clock, the winger’s cool finish handed Darren Ferguson’s men a priceless lead.
The Black Cats were forced to dig deep as Peterborough searched for a second, but they were rewarded 10 minutes from time when Aiden McGeady’s stunning free-kick found the top corner.
