AN iconic purple suit worn by Peter Kay for the ‘Amarillo’ Comic Relief single has been snapped up by a seaside entertainment museum.
Curators at the new Showtown musem in Blackpool have acquired the flamboyant suit, which the Bolton funnyman wore while filming the famous video to the Tony Christie hit, using an Arts Council grant.
In the wake of the single’s phenomenal success, with the track remaining at number one for seven weeks, Peter sold off the two-piece in 2005 to raise funds for Bolton Hospice.
And since then garment has remained in private hands, before being placed up for sale earlier this year.
