Peru has recently received information on more than 4,000 bank accounts held by 3,300 Peruvian citizens in Belgium and Cayman Islands, which show a balance of over US$3.5 billion, as part of a reciprocal exchange of financial information, Sunat's National Intendant for Strategies and Risks Palmer De La Cruz revealed on Friday.
Remarks were made during his presentation before the Congressional Economic Commission to speak about the benefits of recent regulations issued by the National Superintendence of Customs and Tax Administration (Sunat) on fiscal transparency.
De La Cruz explained that the exchange of information is part of the international commitments assumed by Peru on its quest to join the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
