People with COVID-19 have a higher death risk after this heart problem
February 7, 2021
In a new study, researchers found that COVID-19 patients who suffer a cardiac arrest either in or out of hospital are far more likely to die than patients who are not infected with the coronavirus.
In particular, women have the highest risk of dying: they are nine times more likely to die after suffering a cardiac arrest in a hospital.
The research was conducted by a team at the University of Gothenburg (Sweden).
In the study, the team analyzed data from a nationwide registry that started to collect data on COVID-19 from 1 April 2020 onwards.
