Vaccine appointments are now available for people aged 38 and 39
Around a million people have been sent text messages today (Thursday) inviting them to book an appointment - but anyone aged 38 and over can now book directly at www.nhs.uk/covid-vaccination or by calling 119.
The move to the next age group comes following three quarters of people aged 40 and 49 being given their first dose.
People under 40 and pregnant women will be offered the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine in line with updated JCVI guidance last week and will be directed to local centres that are offering these vaccines.
Dr Phil Wood, who heads up the West Yorkshire Vaccination Programme, is urging people to book as soon as possible.
