“It’s used by physicians at the (emergency) bedside when we need to make decisions around patient management and patient care,” said Dr. Rebecca Lindley, a physician at the Pemberton Health Centre. “It’s really helpful for us in Pemberton because we don’t have X-rays and lab tests out-of-hours most of the time. It’s a great tool we can use to help change whether we send people to hospital or not. It’s a bit more help with diagnosis.”
The cost of the new ultrasound machine — approximately $60,000 — was covered by funds raised from the last two charity golf tournaments held by the PDHCF at Big Sky Golf Club, as well as a private bequest from the family of Pemberton’s celebrated pioneer George Underhill.
