The Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Paul Chan, said in a blog on 30 July that the advance estimate of GDP for the second quarter, which will be released on August 30, may slow down slightly year-on-year compared with the first quarter. Chan pointed out that among the "three-headed carriages" driving Hong Kong's economic growth, private consumption was still the main link supporting growth in second quarter. He believes that in the face of changes in the lifestyle and consumption patterns of citizens and tourists, Hong Kong needs more distinctive and creative marketing strategies.
