PARSIPPANY — The long, expensive and complex process of outfitting Morris County's largest police force with body cameras is nearing completion.
Pending approval to clear final budget hurdles in the township's upcoming annual budget, Chief Andrew Miller said a grueling, three-year task of upgrading the department's computer servers and other preparations is largely done and they are in place to roll out fully equipped patrols "in a matter of weeks" after body cameras are approved for purchase.
He requested about $96,000 in capital expenditure from the 2020-21 budget, scheduled to be introduced during the first week of March. That should cover the purchase of 90 bodycams, enough to equip "all patrols and supervisors in the field."
