Parliament votes today to extend state of emergency until 15 January

The Assembly of the Republic will debate and vote today on the presidential decree that extends the state of emergency until the 15 January to allow the maintenance of the measures enacted to mitigate the spread of the covid-19 pandemic in Portugal.
The draft decree sent by Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa to parliament on Tuesday, which will take effect between midnight on the 8 January and 11:59 on the 15 January is widely expected to be approved with favourable votes from the parliamentary benches of the PS and PSD. The parliamentary groups of the PCP and the ENP, as well as the sole deputy of Chega, André Ventura, announced, on Monday after a hearing with the President of the Republic, that they will repeat the vote against the diplomat, after meeting with the President of the Republic on the matter.
