Retirements of high-level city hall managers continued this week, with parks and rec czar Jan Wilson bidding farewell to the job she loves and to her hometown.
She’s headed to Halifax with her husband Brad after 32 years with the City of Windsor, the last four as corporate leader of recreation, parks, culture and facilities.

“My husband and I, we decided we wanted to start our retirement with a feeling of adventure,” said Wilson, who said they chose Halifax in particular to be close to her mother, who now lives there. She had been thinking of retirement for the last few years (her husband is already retired), but delayed pulling the trigger because she didn’t want to leave the city in a lurch in the middle of the pandemic, as the city dealt with crisis upon crisis.
