Parents and organizations in Connecticut have filed a federal lawsuit challenging the state's removal of a religious exemption for vaccines.
"We think it's an absolutely abhorrent piece of legislation," says Brian Festa of We The Patriots USA and CT Freedom Alliance, the organizations suing Connecticut. "This law strips over 8,500 school children of their religious freedom and their fundamental right to an education."
The legislation was signed into law by Gov. Ned Lamont last week. The new law takes effect in the fall for the 2022 school year at both public and private schools, and day care centers.
