Pandemic turns Lexington woman's side business into primary income

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — With the COVID-19 pandemic still taking a toll on the nation’s economy, many Americans are turning to side jobs to help make ends meet.
Sweet Dreamz by Makala is an artisan bath product business born out of Makala Jones’ love of bath bombs.
After months of selling handmade soaps and bath bombs to friends and family, Jones expanded her business and began selling her products online in January.
The sales from Jones’ side business unexpectedly became her main source of income when restaurants in the state of Kentucky shut down because of the pandemic.
