PANAMA CITY — A child missing out of Mississippi since April was rescued on Thursday in Panama City after the suspected kidnapper was arrested.
According to a news release from the Panama City Police Department, officers stopped an SUV for a traffic infraction at the intersection of U.S. 98 and Michigan Avenue. During the stop, officers were informed that the vehicle and the registered owner were suspected to be involved in a kidnapping case out of Olive Branch, Mississippi.
A passenger in the SUV, who was sitting with a young girl on his lap, was identified as Jordan Akers. The girl was confirmed to be the abducted child, the release said.
