State health authorities reported 54 new deaths and 1,129 more cases on Tuesday, Dec. 14.
The Oregon Health Authority reported a new record 54 daily deaths from COVID-19 on Tuesday, Dec. 15, as health care workers in the state were scheduled to begin receiving the first vaccinations.
According to state health officials, the new fatalities raised the official state death toll to 1,214.
"Today's record-high death toll tragically reminds us that the pandemic is far from over despite the arrival of vaccines in Oregon," said OHA Director Patrick Allen. "These Oregonians and the ones who passed before them were loved ones who will be dearly missed by their families, for whom we express our sincerest condolences."
