The Palm Beach Town Council has passed a local emergency declaration which was issued by the Chief of Police.
The measure, which passed by a 4-1 vote, brings a "heightened awareness" about the increase of COVID-19 transmission.
The town earlier this week implemented a mask requirement for all employees and visitors to Town-owned government buildings, whether vaccinated or not. These include Town Hall, the Police Station, Fire Stations, Recreation Center, Tennis Centers, Golf Course and the Public Works facility.
Due to state orders, the town does not have the power to issue mandates regarding masks for private businesses.
