Saturday night's game between the San Diego Padres and host Washington Nationals was suspended after 5 1/2 innings due to a shooting incident outside the third base gate at Nationals Park.
The Padres were leading 8-4.
When the players left the field after the top of the sixth, fans were asked to leave the ballpark through the center field and right field gates.
Metropolitan Police said four people were injured by gunfire outside the stadium.
The game is to resume Sunday at 1:05 p.m. Eastern and be played until a nine-inning conclusion. The regular game will follow the end of the suspended game.
