While some theories have been floating around that Moriarty took off on his own accord, NT Police confirm that the case is still an active murder investigation. Detective Sergeant
Matthew
Allen, who has worked on the Paddy Moriarty case since 2017, said the following in a statement on the Northern Territory Police website:
Somebody knows what happened. A 70-year-old man and his dog don’t just disappear from a tiny outback town. Police believe Paddy has been murdered. We are offering a reward of $250,000 for information leading to the location of his body and the conviction of the person or people responsible for his death. The case will only be closed when it is solved.
