Packard’s in Northampton sets reopening date; owner says staying shuttered ‘not an option for us’

NORTHAMPTON — Packard’s, which billed itself as “The Bar that Never Closes,” will reopen March 18 after a winter-long COVID shutdown.
But Packard’s outspoken owner, Robert McGovern, said Monday the downtown economy is very different now from a year ago and has even changed since he closed Packard’s in November.
