ORMOND BEACH — While area high schools geared up to celebrate the graduation of thousands of students, the Pace Center for Girls Volusia-Flagler held a ceremony of one.
It was no less meaningful for the organization that helps girls overcome hardships, and for student McKenzie Lucas.
Pace Center staff, family and friends celebrated Lucas' graduation on Thursday. The ceremony was held in Ormond Beach at 208 Central Avenue.
“Next week is my first day of the Fresh Start program which will help me get scholarships and understand campus life at Daytona State,” said 17-year-old Lucas. “My first semester at Daytona State College starts in August.”
