The Pennsylvania House has passed legislation designed to reign in the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission, an effort that could win favor with motorists fed up with escalating toll costs.
House Bill 607, introduced by State Rep. Joe Emrick, amends the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission Compact by providing veto power for the governor over certain actions; allows for an annual, joint audit of the commission's finances and management operations by both the auditor general of Pennsylvania and the state auditor of New Jersey; and grants the governor of each state with the power to ratify or veto certain actions taken by commissioners.
