"Rest assured, all efforts will be exhausted to determine the motive and the identity of the assailant so that justice will be served," Cagas said in a statement Thursday. Barangay San Jose chair Angelito Balasbas, 50, was shot dead by a motorcycle-riding attacker outside his home Wednesday. Neighbors who heard the gunshots brought Balasbas to the hospital. However, attending physicians at the Sunga Hospital declared him dead on arrival. Balasbas is described as one of the mayor's loyal supporters in the latter's reelection bid. The local police released the closed-circuit television footage of the fleeing attacker onboard a Yamaha NMAX motorcycle. (PNA) }
