Orders issued to dismantle long-protested Mamurdi
RMC unit in 15 days; relief for residents after 7 months
The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (
MPCB) regional office of
Pune on Monday issued a show-cause closure notice to the ready-mix concrete plant (RMC) near the Mamurdi Urban Forest Co-Operative Housing Society, following complaints from residents.
The order said the plant should be dismantled in a fortnight, otherwise the water and electricity supplies will be disconnected.
Locals claimed to have been suffering various health issues due to the RMC plant menace over the last seven months. MPCB sub-regional officer Nitin Shinde had earlier said that officials visited the society after detailed news coverage by this newspaper.
