Otter Tail County resort hopes fishing opener gives staff a revenue boost

The Thumper Pond Resort had to lay off about 80 employees in 2020 because of the pandemic.

OTTERTAIL, Minn. — It was a calm before the storm on Otter Tail Lake Friday, May 14, as very few boats were out on the water, and the some of the only sounds heard were waves crashing on the shore.
However, fishers like James Klick of Long Prairie, Minn., still got a jump start, and made sure his boat was ready for walleye season to start.
