WORCESTER schoolboy Oscar Saxelby-Lee continues to shoot for the stars with a space-inspired birthday celebration his family “were told we’d never see”.
Oscar turned seven yesterday (Monday) having come through the ordeal of pioneering and life-saving leukaemia treatment in Singapore that was not available on the NHS.
The appeal for £500,000 to fund the treatment was the fastest-growing campaign hosted by charity fundraising site Virgin Money Giving at the time.
The Pitmaston Primary School pupil inspired dozens of individuals, schools, sports teams, dance clubs and businesses pledge money and organise events in a bid to raise the mammoth sum needed to save his life and he returned in June, heading back to school in October having been cancer free for 10 months.
