Oregon tribes on edge over uncertainty about COVID-19 relief funds

High school tutor Kaylee Oakes adds material to boxes containing activities and books in the Youth Education Building on Wednesday, July 29. These boxes will be sent and delivered to Grand Ronde tribal members who are in sixth to 12th grade. The outreach program to tribal youth was funded using CARES Act monies by the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde in Oregon.

While many people are waiting anxiously for 2020 – a year rife with disasters and vitriol – to finally end, Oregon’s tribal governments are anxious about what will happen to COVID-19 relief funds when 2021 arrives.
