'For this amount people can fly to India and buy it...': Gucci's Rs. 2.5 lakh 'Indian kurta' fails to impress desi Twitter
Indian Twitter is rather unhappy with Italian luxury fashion house Gucci over it's recent choice to sell Kaftans. Somewhat similar in appearance to the kurtas popular in much of the subcontinent, their primary difference is the price point. You see, while one may be able to purchase such a garment for a couple hundred rupees in India, Gucci consumers are expected to shell out up to Rs. 2.5 lakh.
"Crafted from organic linen, this kaftan is enriched with a floral embroidery and self-tile tassels," explains the product listing for the now viral product. This incidentally is part of an entire range of kaftans that retail from anywhere between Rs. 1.5 lakh to Rs. 2.5 lakh.
