OPPD's list of finalists to be the utility's CEO is a short one. The Omaha Public Power District named Javier Fernandez as the one and only final candidate for chief executive officer during its' meeting on Wednesday. Fernandez is OPPD's Vice President & Chief Financial Officer. He joined OPPD in June, 2017. He and his wife Belinda have four children.“Javier’s extensive experience, passion, and commitment delivered on our expectations for this role,” said Board Chair Amanda Bogner in an OPPD news release. “He has served the District well as Chief Financial Officer for the past four years and will serve the utility well in the future of this dynamic industry.”Current CEO Tim Burke retires on July 2nd. The OPPD board will vote on the new CEO selection during its monthly meeting on May 20th at 5:00 p.m.OPPD says the board conducted interviews with five internal candidates before selecting Fernandez.OPPD will hold a virtual "meet and greet" event with Fernandez to give the public an opportunity to meet him.
