Republican Party Chairman Benjamin Proto
Being a state party chairperson is a difficult, often thankless job, requiring the ability to herd proverbial cats, raise money and always be ready to address the media. It requires the ability to handle criticism, constructive and otherwise, and be able to take a punch and, if necessary, respond in kind.
There are many reasons why the Republican Party did the right thing in electing Ben Proto as its new Republican State Chair.
Proto has unique background, having worked for John McCain and Donald Trump. These two, obviously, come from vastly different segments of the Republican spectrum, with vastly different values. Proto was able to do the job as a professional and managed to make important contacts throughout the Republican Party along the way. He is not an ideologue but instead is someone who focuses on getting the job done, and boy does the Republican Party need a helping hand right now.
