Operation Kamal
It’s usually unheard of in
Bengaluru – because most infrastructure work happens in fits and starts – but after Kamal Pant took over as police commissioner, the city’s bottlenecks are being fixed with a very short turnaround time.
In Whitefield, for instance, where water shortage abounds and
water tankers even more so, residents had complained that traffic flow was being crippled as the tankers ply during critical hours.
“We called a meeting with all the water tank owners and informed them that they cannot operate during the peak hours from 8 to 11 am and then from 5 to 8 pm. We requested them to cooperate with us as people were facing issues with traffic movement. We implemented this right after the meeting in December and started fining tankers that violated the diktat,” said a senior official from Whitefield traffic police station.
