OOSTBURG, WI (WHBL) – The Oostburg Village Board voted on Monday to hand 911 operations over to Orange Cross Ambulance, spelling a likely end to the volunteer service which has served the southeast corner of Sheboygan County for the past 48 years. The decision was met with loud objections by the audience as could be heard in a live stream on Facebook.
Oostburg Ambulance supporters had staged a vigorous campaign to save the all-volunteer service through social media and yard signs, and were hoping that the decision would be delayed until residents could look at options and then vote in a spring referendum.
