Ontario is offering faster COVID-19 shots for kids 12 and older as it works to boost immunization rates before school resumes this fall.
But how the province will handle schooling for vaccine-eligible children whose parents don’t want them to get the shots, remains unclear. Education Minister Stephen Lecce says the government will share its back-to-school plan later this month after developing it with Ontario’s chief medical officer of health and looking at factors such as vaccination rates among staff and students.
