In 2017 a report from The Gatsby Foundation, a science funding charity, conducted an international study on the value of practical science lessons in school.
It found that doing something practical as opposed to book learning, was vital in teaching the principles of scientific enquiry, improving understanding of theory, teaching skills such as measurement and observation, which boost students’ employability. Practical learning was also proven to motivate and engage students as well as develop skills such as communication, teamwork, and perseverance.
