One year into COVID-19, La. schools have 'more mobile devices than kids'

COVID-19 brought with it the closure of schools and an increased need for technology in districts across Louisiana to offer remote learning.
Fortunately, the pandemic also brought federal funds to cover these purchases with school systems across the state having spent millions of stimulus dollars on Chromebooks and laptops since March 2020.
"We're in a good place with devices," Louisiana Superintendent of Education Cade Brumley said. "We have more mobile devices than we have kids."
In the push to bring school districts to a one-to-one student-to-device ratio, Louisiana has surpassed that figure statewide, although not all individual school districts are there yet, according to the Department of Education's School Reopening Dashboard's data on technology and devices as of Feb. 24.
