Enjoy live theater with three comedies opening this weekend: “Sirens” at the IceHouse in Mount Dora, “It’s Only a Play” at the Melon Patch in Leesburg and The Bay Street Players Young People’s Theatre’s production of “The Addams Family” in Eustis.
“Sirens”
The IceHouse Theatre opens the Deborah Zoe Laufer contemporary comedy, “Sirens” on Friday and it plays until April 4.
The story is set in 2010 in New York and on an island in the Mediterranean. When Sam fell in love with Rose Adelle, he wrote a hit song that has been recorded by every big vocalist. For 25 years, he has longed to reignite that creative spark. While on a cruise for their 25th anniversary, Sam is enraptured by a sublime song in the distance. He jumps off the ship and awakens on the shore of an island inhabited by a Siren, a singing nymph as in the mythological tale. He must strike a bargain with the Siren to allow him to get back to his real life.
