WORTHINGTON — With $204,000 in interest money available to spend on projects that improve water quality within a 12-mile radius of the city of Worthington, members of the E.O. Olson Trust received few options for spending it during their annual meeting Thursday morning.
The five-member board — comprised of Nobles County commissioners Bob Demuth and Donald Linssen, Worthington Public Utilities representative Deb Weg, Worthington Mayor Mike Kuhle and citizen member Jack Sliver — ultimately dedicated $92,780.35 toward replacement of, or improvements to, the Lake Okabena dam. The amount is equal to the money the city received for the sale of a portion of former E.O. Olson land south of Worthington that will soon be home to an Ethiopian Orthodox church.
