Oldham County will be without its annual Fourth of July fireworks show.Oldham County Judge-Executive David Voegele took to Facebook to address the cancellation. He says the cost of putting on a show is too high and Oldham County Fiscal Court cannot justify paying the price. Voegele says the court struggled with paying for the show when it was just $12,000 but continued to pay the expense anyways. The expected cost for this year's show would've been $17,000 for a half-hour show, which is "unfortunately too much.""This decision is based on cost only. Everyone is encouraged to celebrate the greatest nation in the history of the world - ‘land of the free and home of the brave’ - on our Independence Day. July 4th," Voegele added. The news comes as the United States faces a nationwide fireworks shortage.
