The World Trade Organisation (WTO) Director-General, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has called on members of the global trade body to deliver concrete results that promote the WTOâs founding objectives.
Some of these she listed include using trade to improve the living standards of ordinary people, creating better jobs, and contributing to sustainable development.
According to a statement posted on the WTOâs website, Okonjo-Iweala made the remark while speaking at an informal General Council meeting yesterday.
The meeting was called by the WTO General Council Chair, Ambassador Dacio Castillo (Honduras) to initiate a process of consultations on the nature of the prospective outcome document for the Twelfth Ministerial Conference (MC12), which would take place in Geneva the week of November 29th.
