Scam-a-lot: State officials have so far been able to confirm $330 million was paid out to 56,000 fraudulent pandemic unemployment benefits claims filed between April and December, Jeremy Pelzer reports. An additional 2,200 fraudulent overpayments for traditional jobless benefits, totaling $2.3 million, were made between October and December.
If at first you don’t succeed: Gov. Mike DeWine said Monday he plans to try to re-introduce his STRONG Ohio gun-reform package as part of the state budget bill, after his fellow Republicans in the state legislature refused to act on it last session. As Andrew Tobias reports, DeWine told reporters the specifics will appear in the bill language when it’s developed in the next two weeks. He also highlighted public-safety components of his budget, including extra funding he’s proposed to help local police buy body cameras, among other proposals.
