Ohio Democrats call for police reforms, training in anti-racism and mental health

Ohio House Democrats are pushing for more training, transparency and accountability for the state's 34,000 sworn police officers, which the lawmakers say will go a long way toward eliminating misconduct and bad policing.
"This type of policing comes at a cost to those who are unfairly targeted, to the taxpayers who are forced to pay out lawsuits for gross misconduct, and for far too many Ohioans who needlessly lose their lives or their livelihoods because we don't have the measures in place to demand more of our law enforcement officers," said House Minority Leader Emilia Sykes, D-Akron.
