Re: Statement on Democracy and Our Nation’s Capitol Building
The conduct that played out yesterday in our nation’s Capitol Building should remind us all that as members of a civilized, educated, and just society, we have an obligation to stand up and speak out against those who seek to destroy our democracy. At FGCU and across all of higher education, we will remain committed to respectful and peaceful debate on the critical issues of our times no matter individual political differences. This is the moment to come together as Americans and embrace the institutions, basic values, and principles that have made this a truly great nation.
